Polaroid skies

The pieces below formed a part of a series of twelve small 7”x10” watercolor paintings exhibited at the former 217 BrewWorks Brewery. The series portrayed images of the sky in the form of Polaroid picture. Carlos wanted to convey a feeling of familiarity and nostalgia with this series. The majority of the images in this series were actual snapshots taken by the artist himself. The images are of different locations in Wilson, NC. Only one of the images is drawn completely from the imagination and one other is a borrowed image from the artists’ personal friend. Although this was not an official gallery show, the series is near and dear to the artists heart. This was the first series of paintings that the artist created with a set theme in mind.
